A Beautiful Wedding at Voco Oxford Thames | Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer

There’s something incredibly special about photographing a wedding where every part of the day feels relaxed, joyful and genuinely personal. That was exactly the atmosphere surrounding Mark and Morag’s beautiful wedding at Voco Oxford Thames. From the early morning preparations right through to the evening celebrations, it was a privilege to document every moment of their day as their chosen Oxfordshire wedding photographer. At this particular wedding, it was lovely to meet up with a fellow professional wedding supplier, Andy Earl. Andy is the Voco Oxford Thames Wedding Master of Ceremonies. As a wedding photographer based nearby in Abingdon-on-Thames, I always enjoy returning to venues that offer a perfect combination of elegance, beautiful grounds and a welcoming atmosphere, and Voco Oxford Thames delivers all of that effortlessly.

Voco Oxford Thames Wedding Photography

Set within stunning grounds on the edge of Oxford, voco Oxford Thames is one of Oxfordshire’s most picturesque wedding venues. The historic architecture, riverside setting and landscaped gardens provide endless opportunities for natural and romantic wedding photography throughout the year.

Mark and Morag chose the venue for its relaxed countryside feel whilst still being close to Oxford itself, and it suited their wedding perfectly. The entire day flowed beautifully, giving me plenty of opportunities to capture those authentic moments that tell the real story of a wedding day.

From the moment I arrived during the morning preparations, there was such a calm and excited atmosphere amongst family and friends. These quieter moments before the ceremony are always some of my favourites to photograph, as they often contain the most genuine emotions of the day.

Relaxed Documentary Wedding Photography at Voco Oxford Thames

My approach to wedding photography has always been centred around natural storytelling. Rather than overly staged moments, I focus on capturing real interactions, emotion and atmosphere as the day unfolds naturally.

Mark and Morag wanted their photographs to feel timeless, elegant and relaxed, which fitted perfectly with my documentary style of wedding photography. Throughout the day, I stayed close by to capture all the important moments without ever interrupting the flow of the celebrations.

The ceremony itself was full of emotion, laughter and heartfelt reactions from guests. The beautiful ceremony space at Voco Oxford Thames photographs wonderfully thanks to its soft natural light and elegant interiors, creating a timeless backdrop for wedding photography.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and celebrations outside within the venue’s beautiful grounds, whilst I documented candid moments between family and friends. These in-between moments are often the memories couples treasure the most years later.

Romantic Couple Portraits Around the Grounds of Voco Oxford Thames

One of the biggest advantages of getting married at voco Oxford Thames is the incredible variety of locations available for couple portraits.

As the afternoon light softened, I spent some relaxed time with Mark and Morag exploring the gardens and riverside surroundings to create a collection of romantic portraits that still felt completely natural to them. Nothing overly posed or awkward — just genuine moments together, enjoying their wedding day.

The historic stone buildings, tree-lined walkways and peaceful riverside setting all helped create an elegant backdrop for their portraits. Even on a busy wedding day, taking ten or fifteen quiet minutes together often becomes one of the most enjoyable parts of the day for couples.

Aerial Wedding Photography and Video Memories at Voco Oxford Thames

Something a little different that I was able to provide for Mark and Morag during their wedding day was aerial wedding photography and a selection of short cinematic video memories.

Drone photography at wedding venues like Voco Oxford Thames can add an entirely different perspective to a wedding gallery, especially with such beautiful grounds and surrounding scenery. The aerial images helped showcase the scale and beauty of the venue whilst also capturing some unique moments of the couple and their guests enjoying the celebrations outdoors.

Alongside the photography coverage, I also created some short video clips throughout the day, allowing Mark and Morag to relive parts of their wedding in motion as well as through still images. These small video memories are becoming increasingly popular with couples wanting an additional layer of storytelling without the need for a full videography team.
