The Cosener’s House, Abingdon on Thames is one of my favourite wedding venues in Oxfordshire to shoot wedding photography. It has everything that a couple could wish for. Quant rooms with river views and a bridal suite to make every bride feel relaxed, special and excited before her special day.

Historically this grade II listed building played a major role in the provision of food supply for the grand Abingdon Abbey situated close by. Now, wedding guests explore historical originality with hints of contemporary modernism with the addition of a fresh and crisp ceremony room. My couple, Rory and Lucy chose this amazing venue and planned their ceremony and wedding breakfast at the location.

It was a very warm (29’C) summer August day.

The gardens were stunning as usual and the warm summer sun was glinting across a cool-looking river Thames. Along with the invited guests, some unwanted yet welcome guests; geese and swans intermingled gracefully in Rory and Lucy’s celebrations.

I started my day by saying hello to Aditya, Coseners House Deputy General Manager. Indeed, all of the team at The Cosener’s house are energetic and poised to ensure their special guests have a day to remember.

Lucy and her bridesmaids were situated in the bridal suite. With the excitement and anticipation of the ceremony just moments away, there was a moment of relaxed calm allowing me to take some shots of the girls sipping some fiz and making last-minute adjustments to dresses and make-up.

Downstairs the boys were suited and booted, ready and waiting. Rory was surrounded by friends and best men who were armed with pre-wedding stag stories and historical stories from fond memories of previous celebrations. Whilst the summer sun definitely was welcome by all, it sure was a relief to step inside The Coseners House ceremony's air-conditioned room. We all welcomed a cool 18-degree room, again with stunning garden and river views.

As the day unfolded, guests mingled, laughed, and played summer games on the lawn all watched carefully by the wildlife.

Lucy and Rory opted for some formal posed shots of friends, work friends and family but also requested relaxed and unobtrusive shots capturing their special day. This amazing venue offers space and room for guests to relax and enjoy the special day.

Below are some of my favourite shots from the day - my thanks to my amazing couple and as always Aditya and his dedicated staff.

Darren
