When it comes to wedding venues in and around the world-renowned city of Oxford, you are spoilt for choice. Whether it is Quant hotels, well-known chain hotels such as the Voco group or one of the many Oxford Universities, your wedding location will be known around the world.

As a wedding photographer who spends a lot of time photographing beautiful weddings in Oxford I too am spoilt for choice on which wedding to tell you about. I will start with the Voco group.

Voco Oxford Spires

As its name suggests, you can literally see the famous spires of many of Oxford’s famous universities from this location. It also backs onto the River Thames running into the city. Photography opportunities here are pretty much infinite.

As have worked at this location multiple times across all seasons, and this venue never disappoints. With enough rooms to house your guests and friends, and with so many locations to plan your dream wedding lets have a look at some wedding images from this location.

Voco Oxford Thames

Just a short taxi (or boat) journey out of the City is Voco Oxford Thames. With all the same excellence as its Spires City alternative, the Thames location is again nestled amongst dozens of acres of riverside luxury.

I have also photographed at this location, and again, it is thoroughly enjoyable and photographic. This venue is especially suited to outside weddings with its little quaint wedding booth right on the Thames.

Oxford Universites

Oxford is home to some of the finest universities in the world. Indeed, many have featured in films, shows and documentaries. They have also been the backdrop to many weddings and formal events and what a backdrop they are.

Here are some images from a few of the universities I have photographed.

Oxford Wedding Photography Styles

Photographing a couple’s wedding day is a very personal thing. It is vital as a wedding photographer that I capture the essence and feeling of your wedding celebration. Every couple is different - Some couples prefer posed group shots, while others prefer more natural, relaxed images without the need for formal static poses.

At Darren Weston Photography, I recognise that your wedding is a unique event. Capturing the essence of your celebration through Oxfordshire wedding photography is my speciality. Every couple has different preferences, ranging from posed group photos to more candid shots. I excel at delivering both styles to match your vision for your Oxford wedding photoshoots. But, before making a decision, consider my guide outlining the options available to you.

Rest assured, blending different styles to mirror the ambience and participants of your Oxford wedding photoshoot is perfectly acceptable. I am dedicated to making your memories tangible in a way that feels uniquely yours.

Traditional Style of Oxfordshire Wedding Photoshoots

Darren Weston Photography specialises in the timeless tradition of Oxfordshire Wedding Photography, capturing elegant and formal shots of the wedding party. The images tend to be formal portrait shots of you and your guests, all focused toward the camera.

These styles are still popular, showing the attendees helping you celebrate your special day. From a photography point of view, images like these take some organisation as everyone must focus their attention on the wedding photographer. The resulting images show similar emotions, as everyone is generally smiling and looking in one direction. My Oxford wedding photoshoots are often punctuated with the joyous smiles of the celebrants, resulting in images that truly represent your memorable day.

We understand the importance of planning and coordination, particularly when it comes to choosing the perfect timing and location for your photoshoot. I consider all factors, including the weather and the time of year.

Being the groom, this is where your best man earns his pay! We often collaborate with the best man to streamline the process of gathering guests, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable photoshoot experience for all.

Contemporary Style of Oxfordshire Wedding Photoshoots

These are very creative shots.

Renowned for awe-inspiring Oxfordshire wedding photoshoots, Darren Weston Photography combines expertise and innovation to make your wedding memories spectacular. Emphasising the unique charm of your special day, we use both natural and artificial lighting to create stunning visuals, whether it's capturing rain droplets, snowflakes, or the grandeur of your wedding venue under the night sky.

When deciding upon these types of photos consider that your photographer will need a little time to set up exterior lighting prior to the shot. Once ready, I only then request my bridal couple meaning they are only away from the guests and celebrations for a short while.

Often couples choose to have one or two of these types of shots if the venue and weather allow. If not, some amazing contemporary shots can be achieved inside the venue.

Documentary Style of Oxfordshire Wedding Photography

This style is by far the most requested type of Oxfordshire wedding photography. Basically, your photographer will capture the events of the day in an unobtrusive “reportage” style capturing the laughs (and tears) as the day unfolds. Generally, you and your guests are photographed having fun without direct interaction with your photographer.

These images show the spontaneity of the celebrations and can give really heartwarming images of your guests, helping you to enjoy the day.
